Tromelin Island Travel Guide

Tromelin Island is a uninhabited, low, flat, sandy island off the east coast of Madagascar that is 1 square kilometer in size. It was first explored by the French in 1776 and it came under the jurisdiction of Reunion in 1814. It is currently the site of a sea turtle sanctuary and a meteorological station used for forecasting cyclones. The island is unhabited except for visiting scientists. Tromelin Island is a possession of France.
